Cookie Policy
Effective date: 7 July 2026 — this policy explains which cookies and local storage entries Gipfelstürmer Social uses, what each one does, and how you stay in control.
Gipfelstürmer Social is operated by Gipfelstürmer Werbeagentur GmbH, Industriestraße 4, 70565 Stuttgart, Germany. Our platform offers free social casino games for adults aged eighteen and over; play uses a fictional Summit Coins balance, and no real money is ever involved. Because we run no game backend and player accounts live entirely inside your own browser, storage technologies such as cookies and localStorage do more work on this site than on most, and you deserve a clear account of every single item we place on your device. This policy provides that account. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes personal data handling more broadly.
1. What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Each cookie contains a name, a value, and some housekeeping attributes such as an expiry date. On every subsequent request to the same site, your browser sends the cookie back, which is how a website "remembers" things between page loads: that you are the same visitor, that you already dismissed a banner, or that you chose a particular setting.
1.1 First-party and third-party cookies
First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting — in our case, gipfelsturmerwerbeagentur.com. Third-party cookies are set by a different domain whose content is embedded in the page, such as a map or a video player. Almost everything on Gipfelstürmer Social is first-party; the single third-party case is described in Section 9.
1.2 Session and persistent cookies
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until a set expiry date or until you delete them. We keep persistent lifetimes as short as each purpose allows, and Section 10 lists them.
1.3 localStorage — the technology we actually rely on most
Alongside cookies, browsers offer localStorage: a storage area that holds data on your device without sending it to the server with every request. This distinction matters enormously on our site. Because Gipfelstürmer Social has no game backend, everything that would normally live in a server-side account — your username, your Summit Coins balance, your session — is written to localStorage instead. Data in localStorage never travels over the network to us; it stays on your device until you or your browser removes it. Throughout this policy, "cookies" is used as shorthand that includes localStorage entries and similar technologies, but we always say explicitly which mechanism a given item uses.
2. Essential Cookies
Essential items are the ones the website cannot function without. They are exempt from the consent requirement because they exist solely to deliver the service you asked for, and they carry no advertising or tracking function.
2.1 What our essential storage does
- Age confirmation: the localStorage key
gw_agerecords that you confirmed you are eighteen or older. Without it, the age gate would reappear on every single page, making the site unusable. - Cookie banner choice: the localStorage key
gw_cookierecords whether you chose "Accept all" or "Essential only", so the banner does not reappear on every visit and so non-essential scripts know whether they are allowed to load. - Security: our server may set a short-lived first-party cookie to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. It contains a random token and nothing about you.
2.2 Why they cannot be switched off in the banner
Disabling these items would disable the mechanisms that respect your other choices: the site could not remember that you refused analytics, and it could not remember that you passed the age gate. You can still delete them through your browser at any time, as Section 8 explains, at the cost of repeating the age confirmation and banner choice on your next visit.
3. Performance Cookies
Performance items help us make the site fast and reliable. They measure how pages behave technically rather than what you as a person do.
3.1 What we measure
Where you have consented to non-essential storage, we may record coarse technical signals: whether a page loaded completely, how long the main content took to appear, and whether a script error occurred. These signals let us notice, for example, that a game loads slowly on older phones or that a recent change broke a page in one particular browser.
3.2 What we do not measure
Performance measurement on our site never records what you typed, never captures your screen, and never follows you to other websites. It is not used to build any profile of you. If you choose "Essential only" in the banner, no performance measurement runs at all, and the games remain fully playable — the only difference is that we hear about problems later, from visitors kind enough to write to us.
4. Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how the website is used in aggregate: which pages attract visitors, which games are opened most, how people arrive at the site, and where they give up. We use this knowledge to decide what to improve.
4.1 How our analytics works
Analytics scripts load only after you choose "Accept all" in the cookie banner. When active, they may set first-party cookies containing a random identifier so that repeat page views can be counted as one visit rather than many. IP addresses are truncated or anonymised, location is resolved only to a broad region, and reports are aggregated before anyone reads them. Our Privacy Policy, Section 5, describes the analytics data flow in full.
4.2 Analytics and gameplay
Analytics observes navigation between pages, not what happens inside a game. Spins, outcomes, and your Summit Coins balance are computed locally in your browser and are never reported to analytics. There is no mechanism by which we could reconstruct an individual play session, and we have deliberately built the platform so that none can be added quietly.
4.3 Refusing analytics
Choose "Essential only" in the banner and no analytics cookie is ever set. If you accepted earlier and change your mind, use the cookie settings link in the footer to withdraw consent; existing analytics cookies are then deleted or expire on their own within the lifetime listed in Section 10.
5. Functional Cookies
Functional storage is what makes Gipfelstürmer Social work as a local-first platform. These localStorage entries are the closest thing we have to an account system, and every one of them lives exclusively on your device. We can neither read nor recover them.
5.1 The complete list of functional localStorage keys
gw_age— your confirmation that you are eighteen or older, stored as a simple flag with a timestamp. Also listed under essential storage, because the age gate is both functional and mandatory.gw_cookie— your cookie banner decision, either accept-all or essential-only, with the date you made it.gw_coins— your current Summit Coins balance. Summit Coins are entirely fictional, hold no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred, or redeemed, and exist only as a number in this key on your device.gw_users— the local account data for profiles created in this browser: the username you chose and profile settings. Nothing in this key is transmitted to us.gw_session— a marker of which local profile is currently signed in, so the site greets the right username after a page reload.
5.2 Consequences of the local-first design
Because these keys exist only in one browser on one device, your profile does not follow you between devices or browsers, and clearing site data erases your profile and balance permanently. We cannot restore them, because we never had a copy. This is a privacy feature, not a limitation: it means a data breach on our side can never leak player accounts, and it means you can wipe every trace of your play in seconds without asking anyone's permission.
6. Preference Cookies
Preference storage remembers small choices that shape how the site looks and behaves for you, beyond the account-related keys above.
6.1 Examples of preferences
Depending on the features enabled at any given time, preference entries may remember whether you muted game sound, whether you collapsed the help panel, or which view of a game list you last used. Each such entry contains only the setting itself — a flag or a short label — and no personal information.
6.2 Where preferences live
Preferences are stored in localStorage alongside the functional keys, under names prefixed with gw_ so you can recognise them easily when inspecting your browser's storage. Like everything else in localStorage, they never leave your device. If a preference entry is missing or deleted, the site simply falls back to its default behaviour; nothing breaks.
7. Marketing Cookies
This section is short because our position is simple.
7.1 No marketing inside games
We do not use marketing or advertising cookies inside our games — not now and not conditionally. Game pages load no advertising networks, no remarketing tags, and no social media pixels. Your play is not used to target advertising anywhere, by us or by anyone else.
7.2 Limited use on the wider site, only with consent
On informational pages of the site, we reserve the possibility of limited marketing-related storage — for example, to measure whether a campaign we ran brought visitors to the homepage. Any such storage would load only if you chose "Accept all" in the banner, would be listed in this policy before deployment, and would never appear on game pages. As of the effective date above, no marketing cookies are in use anywhere on the site, and the banner's essential-only choice guarantees that none can ever be set for you.
8. Browser Settings
Every major browser lets you view, delete, and block cookies and site data, including localStorage. The controls below cover the browsers most of our Australian visitors use. Remember that deleting this site's data erases your local profile and Summit Coins balance permanently.
8.1 Google Chrome
Open the menu, then Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies or Site settings depending on version. Under Site settings choose Cookies and site data to block or clear storage globally, or use View permissions and data stored across sites to find gipfelsturmerwerbeagentur.com and delete its data alone. The lock or tune icon in the address bar offers a shortcut to per-site controls.
8.2 Safari
On a Mac, open Safari, then Settings, then Privacy, and use Manage Website Data to see and remove stored data for individual sites, or Block all cookies for a global block. On iPhone and iPad, open the Settings app, scroll to Safari, and use the Privacy and Security options together with Advanced, then Website Data, to remove our entries.
8.3 Mozilla Firefox
Open the menu, then Settings, then Privacy and Security. Under Cookies and Site Data you can clear all data, manage exceptions, or use Manage Data to search for our domain and remove only its entries. Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection also blocks many third-party cookies automatically at its default setting.
8.4 Microsoft Edge
Open the menu, then Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies and site data. From there you can block third-party cookies, see all cookies and site data, and delete our domain's storage individually. The padlock icon in the address bar likewise offers per-site cookie controls.
8.5 A note on blocking everything
If you configure your browser to block all storage for our site, the informational pages remain readable, but the age gate cannot record your confirmation and the games cannot save a balance, so play will not work. Private or incognito windows behave similarly: everything works during the session, and all local data vanishes when the window closes.
9. Third Parties
We keep third-party content to an absolute minimum. As of the effective date, exactly one third-party embed exists on the site.
9.1 Google Maps on the contact page
Our contact page includes an embedded Google Maps view showing the location of our registered office at Industriestraße 4, Stuttgart. When the map loads, your browser communicates directly with Google's servers, which receive your IP address and may set their own cookies under Google's privacy policy and cookie rules, which we do not control. We load the embed in a privacy-conscious configuration, and if you prefer to avoid it entirely, you can decline non-essential storage in our banner or simply not scroll the map into view; the postal address is printed as plain text right beside it, so no information is lost.
9.2 What we do not embed
There are no social media widgets, no advertising network tags, no external font services, no video platform embeds, and no third-party chat services on Gipfelstürmer Social. Fonts are self-hosted, games are served from our own domain, and the support chat is a local script. This keeps the list of parties who could learn about your visit as short as possible: essentially us, our hosting provider, and — only on the contact page — the map provider.
10. Retention
Every storage item we set has a defined lifetime, after which the browser deletes it automatically or the site treats it as expired and asks again.
10.1 Lifetimes at a glance
gw_age— retained for twelve months from confirmation, after which the age gate asks again.gw_cookie— retained for six months, after which the consent banner reappears so your choice stays current.gw_coins,gw_users,gw_session— no automatic expiry; these persist until you delete them, clear site data, or sign out (which clearsgw_session).- Security cookies — session only; deleted when you close the browser.
- Analytics cookies — where consented, no longer than fourteen months, and most expire far sooner.
10.2 Early deletion
These lifetimes are maximums, not promises to keep data. You can cut any of them short at any moment using the browser controls in Section 8, and withdrawing consent in the cookie settings removes non-essential items straight away. Because functional keys hold your only copy of your profile and balance, we suggest deleting selectively rather than clearing all site data if you wish to keep playing with your current Summit Coins total.
11. Consent
On your first visit, a cookie banner appears before any non-essential storage is used. It offers two equally prominent choices.
11.1 "Accept all"
Choosing "Accept all" permits every category described in this policy: essential and functional storage, performance and analytics measurement, and the limited site-only marketing storage described in Section 7 should we ever deploy it. Your choice is recorded in gw_cookie together with the date.
11.2 "Essential only"
Choosing "Essential only" limits storage to the items in Sections 2 and 5 that the site needs to function — the age confirmation, your banner choice itself, security tokens, and the local account keys that make play possible. No analytics, performance, or marketing storage is used. Every game remains fully available; refusing consent never degrades the service.
11.3 Changing your mind
You can reopen the banner at any time through the cookie settings link in the site footer and switch between the two choices. Withdrawing consent takes effect immediately for new storage and triggers deletion of existing non-essential items. Withdrawal does not retroactively undo measurement that occurred while consent was active, but that data ages out under the retention limits in Section 10.
12. Updates
We update this Cookie Policy whenever we add, remove, or change a storage item, when the law changes, or when a clearer explanation occurs to us.
12.1 How updates are announced
The effective date at the top of this page always identifies the current version. For material changes — a new storage category, a new third party, or a longer retention period — we will show a notice on the site and, where the change requires it, ask for your consent again through the banner rather than assuming the old answer still stands. Minor editorial changes take effect on publication.
12.2 Your part
We recommend glancing at this page occasionally, particularly if you notice the consent banner reappearing, since that is usually a sign that something meaningful changed. Earlier versions of this policy are available on request via the contact details below.
13. Contact Information
